Rebel website – first year summary

At last, I’ve just about caught up on all the posts from the previous months that kind of ‘got left behind’ as it were. All that remains outstanding now is for me to put on my geeky facade (which is difficult when I’m’ so inherently uber-cool) and sum up how the Rebel Motorsport Club website [...]

Hello from Portsmouth

Oh boy, what horrendous weather we are having at the moment. (All I seem to do is talk about the weather these days…) I took the drive here (Portsmouth) yesterday and stayed overnight in a hotel. It was one of the worst drives I’ve had to take. Visibility was practically down to zero and the [...]

Castle Combe Rally Day 2008

I had never been to Castle Combe’s Rally Day before (although Lynda had been a few times and spoke very highly of the event) so I was really looking forward to going along and soaking up the atmosphere. As always it was another early start but that didn’t matter as I was getting used to [...]

Brecon Birthday Drive

Back in August I had my 25th *cough* birthday
Despite it being my birthday it was once again an early start (as are 99.9% of our drives) and there was no lie in for me. (Sympathy if you please…) As always the weather was a concern. It had been pitiful for most of [...]

The Beach Party that… wasn’t

Slowly I’m getting through the backlog of ’stuff’ so please continue to bear with me…
It was yet another cold and wet start to the day (annoying considering it was July) and more weather sickness kept many a person away (and, again, I can’t say I blame them!) Unperturbed we met up with Ann [...]

Wet, cold, miserable. It was great!

May 2008 saw us taking another drive through some beautiful areas of South Wales. But, sadly, we couldn’t have picked a worse day for weather!
Initially we had many, many Club members who expressed an interest in coming along and we were expecting quite a large crowd on the day. Yet due to the aforementioned poor [...]

Christmas ‘08 arrived early for me today!

Woohoo! Christmas did indeed arrive early for me today.
Lyn and I arose early this morning as we had previously decided that today would be the day that we finished/completed our Christmas shopping. (Which I’m glad to report we pretty much did!) Obviously I can’t say much more here as prying eyes may then [...]

Into Europe – Including the ‘Ring and Spa

This time we are going back to May of this year… and a little story about a priest, his adopted daughter and their prize-winning cucumber patch. However, the priest story is not suitable or appropriate right now so it will be held back until another time…
Craig, whom is a friend of ours as well as [...]

Castle Combe Performance Car Action Day

Back in April, Rebel Motorsport Club attended its very first show – complete with a Club stand. We had 18 cars that took pride of place on our stand for the day (having originally expected 20 but sadly losing a couple beforehand). It was quite fortunate for us that those two did drop out as [...]

Wales Tour – Revisited

We started 2008 off with the Wales Tour (which was actually back in March). Lyn and I spent many weekends driving up to North Wales and back to find the best driving roads and routes for this 3-day long weekend.
The Tour started early on a wet and miserable Friday morning, a group of us meeting [...]

Happy Birthday Rebel Motorsport Club

Yeah, I know… kickstarting the whole blogging thing again and he begins with yet more car related ramblings…
You did hear me correctly (or you read the title correctly) – it was recently the birthday of the reborn Rebel Motorsport Club website. It’s hard to believe that one whole year has passed since we [...]

PowerStation Rolling Road Day

Another weekend, another motoring adventure. Today Lyn and I were invited to a rolling road day at PowerStation by the owner of Torque Wales car club. It went something along the lines of:
TW: “Would you like to join us at PowerStation for a rolling road day?”Us: “Yeah, go on then.”

Suffice to say it was an [...]

What will the 3rd thing be?

What a weekend. So much for relaxing! You know the saying, “It never rains, it pours…?”
Lyn and I were sat chatting and watching the TV last Friday night when suddenly the house went dark and fell into silence; something had caused the electrics to trip (or I had suddenly fallen unconscious, hence the silence and [...]

Japanese Performance Car Meet

On the 2nd March we hooked up with a local Japanese Performance Car club and joined them on one of their drives. After seeing the planned route Lynda suggested a change to avoid an unnecessary drive through a small nearby town; a change that would save time and make for an easier and more leisurely [...]

It’s all in the preparation

Back at the end of February and into the beginning of March, Lynda and I had to make a few visits to Snowdonia (and the surrounding areas from Mid- to North Wales) to prepare, and later refine, a route for an upcoming drive we had organised. The drive was an ‘extended’ drive in that members [...]

Lottie and Jermal’s Cambridgeshire drive

Way back in January we spent a weekend (26/27th) near Cambridge with a view to joining an organised drive on the Sunday. Lottie and Jermal had been organising this for a while and both Lyn and I were looking forward to it. A route had been planned and a place to stop for a meal [...]

A dirkdiggler fact

Did you know…
If you drove your car at a steady 202mph around the M25, you would complete a full lap in 36 minutes.
Of course this may not be possible for several reasons. And you’re more likely to have a car capable of 202mph than you are a clear run around the M25.

Looks great!

At last, I was finally able to get my custom-painted engine cover and battery cover fitted last weekend… just in time for Lottie’s, Si’s and Jermal’s Cambridgeshire meet/drive. The engine cover and battery cover were gifts from my better half (thanks, Lyn) and I think they tidy up the engine bay nicely.

Looking [...]

Renault… no? Yes!

I have recently had a bit of grief with my car. Nothing serious I am glad to report… but a hassle nonetheless. To cut a long story short (which also serves as a means by which I can keep this post shorter!) I needed to have a few items of work carried out; work that [...]

Wales GB Rally – Revisited

As mentioned a post-or-two back we braved the elements and went along to a couple of stages from this years Wales GB Rally. It was cold, it was raining and it was windy. We had sun, hail, rain and even – possibly – frogs. Luckily we were able to find decent spectating points on the [...]
