Rebel website – first year summary

At last, I’ve just about caught up on all the posts from the previous months that kind of ‘got left behind’ as it were. All that remains outstanding now is for me to put on my geeky facade (which is difficult when I’m’ so inherently uber-cool) and sum up how the Rebel Motorsport Club website [...]

Windows, Microsoft Windows and Doors

A couple of weeks back, having returned from a short break, we noticed that the front and back doors weren’t looking too healthy. Admittedly the doors weren’t in the best of health beforehand but they were looking quite ill at the point of our return. During our time away they had been subject to some [...]

Moving the goalposts – again

Having not played a decent PC game in quite a while I fired up Half Life 2 with a view to playing through it, and Episode 1, again. (No, I haven’t bought The Orange Box). Within in a minute or two of starting I was happily reminded of just how good this game actually is; [...]

Starting a new job…

Yes, I know – another catch-up entry…
Despite being completely knackered following the flooding/moving fiasco (see entry below) I started my new job on the 23rd July. Having served a 3 month notice period (and with my new employer having waited near on 5 months for me to become available!) I walked into a new office, [...]

Haloid

A superb piece of machinima – where Halo meets Metroid, albeit with a twist towards the end. Only geeks, er, I mean videogame afficionado’s need apply… Click me.

Bittbox

I thought it was about time that I added a short blog entry that mentioned the rather wonderful website that is Bittbox. Many of my esteemed friends and colleagues (this guy for example) also make use of what is quite simply one of the better web design / vector artwork resources on the Internet.
If you [...]

Retail Therapy… works! (Part 1)

Unfortunately you join me during a time of ill-health. But worry ye not (not that you bloody unsympathetic lot would care anyway!) as it’s nothing serious. Having caught the ‘flu the other week I’m having trouble shaking it off and seem to be spending the majority of my time in bed sleeping. Which I’m told [...]

Thunderbird and Locust

In the past I have always used Microsoft Outlook for my various e-mail needs but recently decided to try Mozilla Thunderbird. There were a few reasons for this change:

We have migrated over to using Thunderbird in work
It’s cheaper (i.e. free)
It looks so much better, especially with a little tweaking and custom theme

Having been a fan [...]

Home media hub now… works!

At last. At long bloody last! It’s taken a while (and much banging of my head against a non-descript, solid, immovable object) but I have finally got my home media hub up and running. After hours of trying to figure out why my network shares weren’t visible, why Samba wasn’t playing ball, forwarding of ports, [...]

Easy connect my arse!

How can such an innocent and simple task as setting up a home network and connecting to the Internet become so painful and time-consuming? How? Easy… all you need is a fantastic piece of hardware known as a Sponge Router. The Sponge Router does nothing more than sucks up any data packets it receives and [...]

More wallpaper designs

The creative juices have been flowing again and a friend of mine asked me to knock up some desktop wallpaper designs for his website. I’ve not done many yet (time is a little scarce right now) but here are three I’ve done. Each design ‘fed’ the following design until the 3rd one was reached (which [...]

SharkyUK has moved

Ok, the server migration has taken place and SharkyUK.com is back up and running. Thanks again to Topper and parm.
There are a few things I still need to fix (such as the Gallery) but these will be back in due time.

Server migration

Just a little warning that my website will be undergoing server migration shortly (if it hasn’t already begun!) There may be a brief period of nothingness, or a few little hiccups here and there, but these should be minimal (we have good men on the case). Many thanks to Topper and Chris as always. Cheers [...]

Cooler than cool

Following the recent hot weather (and the fact that it actually lasted longer than 3 whole days) I noticed my PC was getting a little hot under the collar. Nothing too serious, but all the extra cooling fans were kicking in and the noise from the cooler on my graphics card was akin to sitting [...]

Just too cool for words…

It’s not very often I say “wow” when I visit a website. So imagine my suprise when I visited the following site and my visit was peppered with wow’s. Very impressive… (You will need the latest version of Macromedia’s Shockwave Flash installed).
Click for the main page.
Click for an example of one of the features from [...]
